RIPLEY RIDERS CLUB

Welcome to Ripley Riders Club – a few words from the Secretary

Hi everyone,

As the 'history' says the club has been in existence for just over 60 years of which the committee are justly proud.

We hold 8 club shows a year for members during the summer months at which rosettes and points are awarded to sixth place. At the end of the year we have a Presentation Evening for trophy winners with a buffet and disco. There are a variety of classes so hopefully we offer something for everyone and each class has a trophy to win. We welcome riders of any age (yes I do still ride even at my age) and the committee do their best to encourage the younger members in their efforts. While we do not like having to cancel a show, if the committee feel the ground is too wet to support the many horses and lorries that arrive, we will cancel it in order to save the ground for the next show. If possible we will re-schedule but sometimes we do have to 'lose' a show depending on the weather. Cancellations will be notified on the website or you can always contact me on a Friday evening after 7.30pm.

We hold an Open Show in August offering prize money generously donated by our sponsors. Classes are slightly different to a club show but members are of course more than welcome.

On show day we have on the field mobile toilets and a catering van.

I feel that our regular members create a good atmosphere on the show ground which makes each show day something special for me. It is often hard work and long hours for the committee but we try to have a laugh during the day and take enjoyment from seeing everyone happy.

While there will always be a winner it is important to focus on the positives from each day. Each outing should be considered to be a training session and if something goes wrong don't be too disheartened it is simply something that needs to be worked on at home.

Lastly I would like thank all the committee members for their support and hard work, without you it would not be possible at all.

Thank you everyone and see you soon.     Ann

We are very fortunate to have professional photographers from PIXPRO attending the majority of our shows. Gavin Mitchell is a renowned equestrian and wildlife photographer who manages to fit in Badminton and Burghley as well as covering Ripley Riders. Gavin is very approachable and if you want him to take a particular shot of you competing just ask him. Just look for the man in black with all the fancy cameras slung round his neck. All the pictures you see on the site have been taken by Pixpro and we are grateful for being permitted to use them.
